The Telemedicine & Telecare International Trade Fair, scheduled for 10-12 April 2002 in Luxembourg, creates new opportunities for the industry involved in the supply or the implementation of telemedicine related products and systems to face decision making buyers and users from many countries around the globe. Suppliers of medical, telecommunication and IT solutions, as well as service providers such as insurers, will be able to meet people who are looking to find out about the available practical solutions (i.e. products and services) for their needs and to use, implement, or distribute these solutions in their own countries, markets or organizations. These will include hospital managers, hospital department heads, general practitioners, health authorities, homecare service organizations and distributors/agents. All sectors of healthcare delivery (hospital, general practitioner, homecare, ...) are indeed turning towards new technologies to increase the efficieny and also effectiveness of their services. Also countries with low numbers of specialised medical centers or with remote populations, can benefit largely from new telemedicine technologies to offer everyone the same basic or even specialised medical care.
In addition to the business-to-business aspect of the event of bringing offer and demand face-to-face, the Telemedicine & Telecare International Trade Fair will also feature an educational program in which exhibitors and partnering organizations will provide information on practical applications in the field of telemedicine. The following editions of this newsletter will keep you updated with the latest information about the participants of the Telemedicine & Telecare International Trade Fair, the contents of the educational program and other industry news.

The European Commission (Information Society Directorate-General) is presenting an educational program at the Telemedicine & Telecare International Trade Fair which will be spread over the 3 days of the event. With contributions from E.C. representatives and also from Deloitte & Touche, International Telecommunication Union, NATO Workgroup on Telemedicine, and the Russian Telemedicine Foundation, this program will feature presentations on both business and telehealth related issues, which will focus on the present and future business opportunities and technical realizations in the field of telemedicine. The final program will be available soon on the www.telemedicine.lu website. Access to the educational sessions will be included in the general registration fee for the Telemedicine & Telecare International Trade Fair.
