Dr. P.S. Ramkumar, Phd. (Digital Signal Processing), Executive Director of Integrated Health Care Group of Sobha Renaissance Information Technology will be delivering a presentation in the Med-e-Tel conference program on "A collaborative service platform for integrating health care programs".
The Integrated Health Care Exchange (iHCx) framework called ACTchange is driven by consumer centric healthcare service rules. In this process, the care provider's dependency on an ever changing technology landscape in owning, building, maintaining and operating health ICT infrastructure is offloaded. The ACTchange can host secure health information exchange services between consumers, hospital networks and payers within a governance unit or across such units. This can enable governments to transform its health system to provide quality, accountability and affordability in its care programs. Our Managed Services enable the various collaborating entities to form their own cross-entity care programs with customizable data and revenue flow without investing in IT infrastructure, software, maintenance, upgrade and support.
Following are some of the current "Glocalised" managed care services:
- eRadSTM services facilitate collaboration between radiology data acquisition centers, radiologists' consulting offices, transcription offices, patients and hospital admins.
- eCardSTM facilitates collaboration among cardiac care facilities, diagnostic centers, homes of chronic patients, insurance companies and corporate offices to enable early diagnosis, continuous monitoring, treatment and follow-up for acute and chronic cardiac conditions.
Integrated Health Care Group (iHCg) is a Strategic Business Unit of Sobha Renaissance Information Technology (SRIT) and is focused on realizing health care transformation using an integrated approach to ICT adoption within health systems. Sobha Renaissance Information Technology (SRIT) is a CMM Level 5 and SSE-CMM Level 5, global IT solutions company providing advanced, enterprise-class solutions to Fortune 500 companies. SRIT focuses on Application Software Development Services (hybrid onsite-offshore development model) across industry verticals, and productized solutions in the Healthcare, Telecoms and the Total Enterprise space. SRIT is a SOBHA Group Enterprise.

Card Guard will be presenting various innovative healthcare solutions at Med-e-Tel. Among them, the following three new products:
Consumer Wellness: Card Guard's HealthePod is a wireless "Five-in-One" biometric monitor intended for self-testing by consumers who are interested in monitoring their level of health and wellness. Portable and easy to use, the HealthePod utilizes an embedded Card Guard ASIC and built-in Bluetooth technology. The HealthePod measures 1-Lead ECG, heart rate, body fat, body temperature and blood glucose levels. Test results are sent and displayed on a cellular phone and the data can also be transmitted to a web-based center for third party feedback.
Homecare: The PMP4 iTV Wireless Healthcare Platform utilizes broadband television, dedicated software and easy-to-use vital signs monitors to connect patients in the home and their healthcare providers. Personalized educational material and media-rich content is delivered over a television screen to empower a patient in reaching their healthcare goals. All of the data is uploaded to the healthcare provider for analysis, follow-up and storing as an EMR. Card Guard and Kreatel, a Motorola company, developed the iTV platform through a research collaboration with clear objectives of improving a patients self-management and reducing their dependence on acute care givers.
Arrhythmia Monitoring: The CG-6108 ACT ambulatory telemetry system automatically captures and identifies arrhythmias such as Atrial fibrillation, Tachycardia, Bradycardia, and pause, and immediately transmits the EKG data via a cellular phone to a physician for immediate analysis and intervention. The CG-6108 ACT features a manual activation button and has a long battery life. Up to 21 days of EKG data can be generated into a variable, 24-hour full disclosure report. The portable and easy to use system enables patients to go about their daily routine unhindered by bulky monitors, while the unique algorithm detects critical events that other ambulatory systems are not capable of doing. Card Guard received an FDA clearance to market this device in the USA.
Discover these novelties on Card Guard's stand at Med-e-Tel (stand 1C-76), or go to www.cardguard.com.

The World Health Organization is currently looking at what various donors, policymakers, and implementing partners are doing to support mobile eHealth activities throughout the world with a special focus on low resource settings and developing countries. This includes but is not limited to the use of mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), microcomputers, remote diagnostic and monitoring devices, and GPS/GIS mapping equipment to enhance the achievement of health care objectives. Uses may be formal or informal and range from remote treatment and care and support of people suffering from both infectious as well as chronic diseases (mobile telemedicine), health service delivery and coordination, mLearning, and public awareness raising. Patricia Mechael is working with colleagues at WHO to better understand the current "mHealth" activities. She will present an overview of the materials collected so far and highlight areas in which strategic insights and case ! studies are needed. The presentatio n will be part of the "Mobile eHealth Solutions (2)" session of the Med-e-Tel conference program on Wednesday April 18th (see www.medetel.lu/index.php?rub=educational_program&page=program for conference program details).

A new group was formed at a workshop organised by "Building Europe Africa collaborative Network for applying IST in Health care sector (BEANISH)" titled "Europe Africa Synergies on ICTs Strengthening Collaborative Networks" on March 9th 2007 at the European Commission, Brussels. This group has since increased in size after moving online.
Several group members will convene during Med-e-Tel in order to discuss, explore and create a platform for the proposed future activities of the group towards the September Health-2007-3.5-2 and Health-2007-3.5-4 EU-FP7 Health calls.
The topics for discussion will be:
- to discuss and explore different opportunities of taking the group forward;
- to explore and validate the four tentative workgroups;
- to finalise a name for the group.

Leading the industry with over 5000 installations of its devices in more than 68 countries and counting, AMD Telemedicine (www.amdtelemedicine.com) is very busy internationally.
In February, AMD's President Steven Normandin was in Bangkok to announce that Thailand is to be the new Asia base for a telehealth service enabling patients to be diagnosed and receive partial treatment from a remote location. Additionally this year, AMD is installing 68 more telemedicine sites in Kazakhstan, a vast country (2.7 million sq.km.) with a small population of 15.2 million. These new installations are a continuation of a telemedicine project begun in 2003 in the former Soviet state. The project allows physicians in central locations within Kazakhstan to diagnose and treat patients in more remote areas of the country.
AMD offers telemedical devices for a broad spectrum of medical applications including: Cardiology, Dentistry, Dermatology, Ear/Nose/Throat, Emergency Medicine, Womens Health, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Primary Care, Radiology, Schools, Ultrasound, and Vital Signs Monitoring.

In the US, IBM recently unveiled its technology foundation for the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) that enables secure access to healthcare data and real-time information sharing and exchange of healthcare data among physicians, patients, hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies, regardless of where the medical data is located.
The NHIN will serve as a catalyst for the transformation of the United States healthcare system. With this in mind, IBM invites you to read "Healthcare 2015: Win-win or lose-lose?" - IBM's point-of-view on healthcare. Healthcare 2015 highlights the need for healthcare systems to transform the financing and delivery of healthcare, the accountabilities of consumers and other key stakeholders, and improve quality and access in order to help nations remain competitive in a global economy.
